SMART Reading Book Drive
Description
SMART Reading is a volunteer-led nonprofit that combines early childhood reading support, adult mentorship, and community engagement to improve literacy outcomes for children in Central Oregon. Through their book drives, they distribute thousands of books each year, ensuring all local children have access to books at home.
If you would like to donate books to the SMART reading book drive, there will be signs and bins at the front of the school and in the classroom wings February 10th - February 28th. Thank you for your generosity!
Acceptable Donations
- New or Gently Used books
- Restorable: Minor writing on books, small rips on pages, slightly faded or worn colors, stickers on book
- K to 2nd Grade Reading Levels
- Soft and hard cover picture books, early reader books, chapter books, and graphic novels
Not Acceptable Donations
- Books about religion, holidays, potty training, new siblings, aging/death, medical/body, and learning to read (such as Phonics)
- Unrestorable: Pages missing or fully torn, significant writing on or in the book, ANY liquid or food damage/stains, bite marks
